Jesus loves me

For Easter my mom (aka Mimi) sent Wilder a yellow duck and a Jesus Loves Me book. The text is the well known song with a few new verses I didn’t know.
As I opened the package Wilder was super excited (the sound of tearing tape is apparently a climatic affair for an almost six month old). On the inside of the book my mom wrote (as she always does) a little note. It says that before we know it Wilder will understand the words of the book.
I teared up. Not because he’ll understand how to read but because he’ll understand that Jesus loves him. The idea that he will someday understand what our savior did … It’s my hope and prayer (and was before he was ever born). I pray Wilder will live a life that reflects how much he truly understands that Jesus loves us. It’s something I’ve failed at more times than I care to admit. If I never forgot Christ’s love for us, I can’t imagine the joys and victories I could have had. But part of remembering is knowing we are free from guilt. Free from shame. Free from the bondage of our pasts. Our sins. I pray that Wilder sooner rather than later full grasps this and never lets it go. That he will celebrate Easter after Easter with absolute joy and the peace in any circumstance that comes only from the love of Jesus.

About Amanda Jean

I am a joyful and imperfect believer in Jesus Christ, a wife, a momma, a sister, a daughter, a writer, a business owner and ordained minister along with my husband. I am an ordinary woman who serves an extraordinary God. I have been a writer, editor and decided it was time to write for me, for Him, for all the mommas who feel alone, who know what it means to feel broken hearted, hopeless and anxious. The world is filled with voices, authors and opinions. I hope this one is not a clanging cymbal but a light of hope in a dark world. God delivered both my husband and I from cancer and we own a local bike shop as well as an assembly company.

I love the other verses to “Jesus Loves Me”, my kiddos know them now from book we have. Maybe the same one? This year has been so fun- at 4 and 6 Jack and Piper are really starting to understand the meaning of Easter. It melts my heart to be able to hear them retelling the story what Christ did for us. Love to you guys this Easter!!
