Solid shmolid

We started Wilder on “solid” food this week. And by solids I mean goopy runny cereal. But, I think it just doesn’t have that same ring when your ped says “I think he’s ready for goopy runnies.”
When we went for his four month checkup the doc said we could start with brown rice cereal on a spoon when we wanted. I couldn’t even wrap my head around trying to spoon feed our giant baby at that point. The doc then gave that infamous line -“you’ll just know when he’s ready.” know?!? How will I know?! She said one indicator would be when he started to seem to get that we were eating in front of him which sounded weird to me. Then one day I was eating breakfast while playing with him and realized he was smacking his lips and watching my mouth. Whaaaat?!? How did he know? He must be a genius. That coupled with newly interrupted nights in which he ravenously ate were my green light and I headed to Target to buy what according to the package is the most beneficial brown rice cereal in the world.
Day 1 went great and The Tank gobbled it up. Subsequent feedings are hit or miss and to my excitement a few times he’s actually eaten more than he’s wearing,

About Amanda Jean Elliott

I am a joyful believer in Jesus Christ, a mother, a sister, a writer, a maker of gluten free roux and a style editor. I love my son Wilder and the wild life that comes with a 4-year-old who has the energy of a pack of wolves. I also love naps (a lot). I love to cook and create my favorite dishes without gluten not because I'm trendy and anti-gluten so much as it makes me feel like I've been run over by a pack of wolves. I teach 5th and 6th grade girls Sunday School and have a classroom of the greatest girls I could imagine. Girls who often teach me more than I teach them. I believe these girls and many others are the spark to start a fire for The Lord the likes of which this world has never seen. I see more and more girls learning about more than just who God is ... but, learning about who God says THEY are. It is my prayer for every woman to know without doubt that we have a good good Father in heaven and whatever is not right on this earth, He will make right in this life or the next.
